KEY DATES and INFO
2/10/21 We have a mandatory parent-player meeting (one parent must be in attendance) next Wednesday, February 10 from 4:30-5pm. The meeting will be held on Zoom and I'll send out a meeting link next week. SEASON INFO Official season dates are February 1 - March 20. As far as I know, we will not go past March 20 under any circumstances. PRACTICES Both JV and Varsity will practice Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday each week (starting 2/8, excluding President's Day) from 6-7:30am. Additional fitness will be assigned for girls to do on a day of their choosing between Friday-Sunday. GAMES We will play games as detailed in the full season schedule on this spreadsheet. We can't play against other schools until San Diego is in the red tier, so until then we will plan to play varsity vs. JV. This will allow the varsity team to play together to give the seniors the best last season possible and will challenge the JV team to learn and grow quickly in a short amount of time. Senior Game will take place on the original CIF finals date - Saturday, March 20. Senior game festivities will follow. Clearance Info
As always, you must be cleared through the school in order to participate in field hockey season and, this year, any in-person pre-season events. Clearance information can be found HERE. An updated list of cleared athletes is added to the site every Friday. If you have any questions about clearance, please direct them to Carolyn Kinnare (not the coaches). |
FUNDRAISING

Liaisons Mary Beth Sicari and Kelly Ma are our liaisons for the field hockey program and are available to answer any questions you might have at fieldhockey@canyoncrestfoundation.org COVID Given that we have a seven week season, I'm asking that everyone take all COVID-related precations necessary to ensure that we have the most seamless season we possibly can. If a player tests positive for COVID, the entire team and all coaches that were in contact with that player will be required to quarantine for 10-14 days. So if you were considering a certain Mammoth trip or Superbowl Party with all of your favorite friends who you "never get to see," I ask you to strongly reconsider them for the sake of getting through a full season. Having to take two weeks off out of seven would be fairly detrimental - and if we have to do it more than once we'll have quarantined more than we'll have played. And I know that with several parents all coaches having to report for some sort of in-person work outside of field hockey, one positive COVID test could have some major effects on more than just those of us on the field. If you don't think that you can avoid COVID scares for the next 7 weeks, I'd ask that you consider sitting this season out. PARENTS I'm not sure at this time what kind of spectating will be allowed at our games - I will let everyone know when I have more information, but please know that I'll do everything I can to allow parents to watch. I assume that families could physically distance from each other and still have plenty of room in the stands. OTHER ITEMS I'll follow up once I have dates for a program meeting (via Zoom, likely the evening of Thurs 2/4) & anything else I might have forgotten. |
